This 1960s 14-karat gold signet ring centers a round diamond weighing 0.25 carats, set within a polished white gold panel against a brushed yellow gold band. Four prongs cross in a star pattern to hold the stone within the beveled panel, standing apart from the matte finish of the shank. Signet rings originated as engraved seals pressed into wax, and by the 1960s many kept that flat-faced silhouette without an emblem, worn simply as a bold personal ring. The face is broad and tapers down toward the shank, giving it a solid, squared-off profile that wears well as a statement ring.
